One of the RiverBend Lodge guides will take the kids to the neighbouring Reserve, Intsomi, where there is no dangerous game, and the kids can walk around select areas of the Reserve under his guidance.
During the excursion the kids will learn about all the different animals in the Reserve, from the smallest insect to the tallest giraffe. The guides will make real little Rangers out of the kids by teaching them which spoor belong to which animals, how to track them and even how to identify, from their dung, which animals have been in the area.

For a mini-Ranger to be fully prepared he or she should have knowledge of the indigenous plants and their medicinal properties. The River Bend Lodge guides have extensive knowledge of this and are happy to share the information with the young mini-Rangers.
Meanwhile parents can enjoy some time out themselves knowing that their children are safe, having fun, and learning loads at the same time!
