Full Story: Woodall sponsors community football club in Addo

Woodall sponsors this club which plays in the Addo League, in Nomathamsanqa township.

Wendy interviewed  Luvuyo Mati who is the captain of the team. Here’s what she found out…

There are 18 teams in the league, and Elephant City won the league in 2011.  They went to the play offs for the Castle League  in Port Elizabeth, but sadly did not make it into the Castle league.

The area of this league covers the towns of Kirkwood, Jeffreys Bay, Graaff Reinet, Loerie and Paterson.    Luvuyo’s brother, Luzuko, played for Elephant City, but now has moved to Port Elizabeth to further his studies.  He now plays for Lion City.

This team won the Castle League last year, and is to play in the promotion / relegation matches to determine their place in the Vodacom League.  This team comprises mainly school learners.

They practice daily, and play matches on Saturdays and Sundays.

Portfolio Collection applauds Woodall Country House and Spa for their sponsorship of this team. Sport is a great way to build character and keep the spirit alive in poor areas. Community sports clubs like Elephant City play a really important role among the youth of  our nation..
