Day 4 – 6 Addo Elephant National Park

Day 4 (17 Nov) of our tour took us from Prince Albert via Meiringspoort, the quaint towns of De Rust, Willlowmore and Steytlerville to Addo Elephant Park where we stay 3 nights.

Meiringspoort Waterfall

Meiringspoort is another spectacular road (13km) through the Swartberg. A highlight is the 55m waterfall that plunges in a crystal clear rock pool. A romantic explanation tells that the road was named after the wife (Maurice) of an ostrich-feather baron who granted a £4000 interest-free loan so that she could reach the waterfall in great comfort.

The last three days in Addo National Elephant Park was once again amasing and the big herds of elle’s up to 80+ were fantastic. Also a huge buffalo herd was a sight not to be missed. A new experience was travelling from the main camp to the southern bottom gate on the N2. The topography, views, vegetation and animal life were great and a road not to be missed when visiting the park.
