Between Lydenburg and Pilgrim’s Rest lies Mount Sheba and Crystal Springs Mountain Resort. Mount Sheba is not an easy drive, down miles and miles of badly rutted road, through the most scenic pine forests and stunning mountainous scenery. We stopped and spent time in a pine forest, you will see the picture, so romantic — and I thought he looked so happy and relaxed! The food there was very enjoyable, and we saw the almost extinct Sango Monkeys, but not fast enough to take a photo! From there to Crystal Springs Mountain Resort, where the canyon is evident – to the nature trail and game reserve and fantastic walks. Dullstroom next day, on the way back to Johannesburg, has the best trout fishing dams! We fantasised that that is where we would like to retire! But in retrospect, it was just a fantasy, living /retiring near Johannesburg is better! Trips like this make it such fun and the joy and closeness we experienced was enhanced by the magical moments.
