After the mother desperately tried to help the baby, the herd finally came to help. However, they did not succeed either. In my opinion, it would have been a good idea to lead the baby to the opposite side of the waterhole, where the water was shallow and it would most likely suceed to get out. But the elephants were too inexperienced, so the rangers had to help.

The little baby elephant fell into the waterhole and had a hard struggle getting out again. For more than 2 hours, its desperate mom tried to help it out, but didn’t make any progress. Most of the time, she was alone and the herd was gone. In the end, the rangers at Addo Elephant National Park rescued the baby with a rope.
