Early one morning we came across a small group of hyena by the side of the road. One of them was calling and, as we waited, additional pack members started arriving. As each new hyena arrived it went through a session of intense socializing – displaying dominance or submission per its status in the pack. V. interesting – especially when a group tried to out-submit eachother!
