Quick Addo Fact: Addo features a main camp, featuring a swimming pool, restaurant, flood lit water hole and various accommodation, four other rest camps and four camps run by concessionaires. The main entrance as well as two looped tourist roads in the park are tarred while the others are graveled. Quick Addo Fact: Trees in Addo are protected by bees – At some trees in the park, you can spot small white bee boxes. Elephants avoid these protected trees unless they have an absolute dire need and they simply have to eat it. Generally, elephants are scared of bees, because their ears are very sensitive. It’s a very thin layer of skin and that’s what the bees go for. They also sting them around the eyes, on the ears and the tip of the trunk. Addo has some special trees and ellies, funny enough, need those trees as well for shade. That’s the one big stress factor they have in Addo. It’s vital that elephants keep their body temperature at certain level, so when it gets hot they either need mud wallows to go to, or they need shade.

Este guapo león es "Zwaai", de unos seis años de edad, es uno de los leones de melena negra del Kalahari reintroducidos en el parque Addo de Sudáfrica. Creo que solamente hay 11 leones en el parque (machos, hembras y crías) y en nuestro safari tuvimos la suerte de pasar a menos de tres metros de él y de su hermano "Norman". Llevábamos diez días en África y aún no habíamos estado "suficientemente cerca" para hacer una buena foto, como enseñó Robert Capa "Si tus fotos no son suficientemente buenas es que no estás suficientemente cerca".

This handsome lion is "Zwaai" about six years old, is one of the black-maned lions of the Kalahari reintroduced to the park Addo South Africa. I think there are just 11 lions in the park (males, females and cubs) and our safari we were lucky to stay less than ten feet from him and his brother "Norman". We had ten days in Africa and we had not been "close enough" to take a good picture, as taught by Robert Capa "If your photographs aren’t good enough, you’re not close enough."
