The DA in the Eastern Cape is deeply saddened by the tragic passing of Sundays River Valley Municipality councillor, Bassier Daries.
Cllr Daries was elected as a PR councillor in November 2021 and was a dedicated DA activist for a number of years. He was the chairperson of the DA Sundays River Valley Caucus and a member of the Zuurberg Constituency Executive Committee. He was also a member of the municipal finance, administration and local economic development committees.
Bassier will be remembered for his hard work, passion and commitment to the people of Sundays River Valley and specifically in Valencia in Addo. His colleagues had great respect for him as a humanitarian and his tireless work ethic.
He was dedicated, resilient, and caring. He was also passionate about sport and the development of his community.
We send our heartfelt condolences to his family, friends and colleagues, and wish them strength in this difficult time.
